Last week, we visited the DeMoulin Museum in Greenville with curator John Goldsmith, joined for this tour by Bond County CEO and clintoncountyilceo. John shared his path from 22 years in radio to nonprofit and economic development work, and now five years as marketing director, a path he has genuinely enjoyed. He walked the team through DeMoulin's history, a company that today makes marching band uniforms but started out building trick devices, some of which have become collector's items among magicians, including David Copperfield.

Our team members learned how the all volunteer museum has grown since 2010 into a new building, drawing over 15,000 visitors from most states and several countries. John emphasized that a nonprofit is still a business, one that has to generate enough revenue to operate well, and the team dug into real fundraising and expense numbers before breaking into groups to brainstorm fundraising, marketing, and volunteer recruitment ideas.

Thank you to John for hosting our team and sharing such a rich piece of Greenville's history.
