Last week we met with Ben Tarter, current CEO teammember Grace King’s uncle, for a tour of their family farm. Ben shared the story of the family farm, which has been operating since 1946 and now spans about 700 acres. The farm raises cattle while also producing corn, beans, and wheat.

Ben discussed how he moved from helping on the farm to eventually stepping into the leadership role as the needs of the family operation changed. He explained how closely farmers must watch commodity markets, where margins can be tight and small changes can have a big impact.

Students also learned how technology, including cameras and monitoring systems, helps streamline operations, and heard about one of the biggest challenges farmers face - how much their success depends on the weather each growing season.

Thank you Ben for hosting our team!
