Last week, the Montgomery CEO team visited the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, where Manager Katie Wilson shared insight into the organization and the role it plays in supporting local agriculture and the community.
Katie explained how the Farm Bureau operates as a membership organization that provides both tangible and intangible benefits to its members. The Montgomery County Farm Bureau is part of the larger Illinois Farm Bureau, which began in 1916 and now represents over 180,000 members statewide. She also discussed the broader “family of companies” connected to Farm Bureau, including Prairie Farms, Country Financial, and other affiliated organizations.
In addition to explaining the structure of the organization, Katie shared about her own role managing the local office. Her responsibilities include budgeting, fundraising, committee coordination, community outreach, public relations, event planning, and more.
She encouraged the CEO team to seek out opportunities and not be afraid to get involved. As Katie shared, “If you want to get involved, you just need to ask.” She also reminded team-members that experience is one of the most valuable things they can gain, encouraging them to pursue as many opportunities as possible.
Thank you Katie for hosting us at The Montgomery County Farm Bureau!
