This morning the CEO team visited Just a Dad Studios and heard from Tom and Susan Shelton about how a hobby can grow into a thriving business.
Tom shared that his content creation career began simply by making YouTube videos for fun. As he started creating coffee-focused videos, he discovered how powerful content can be when it genuinely helps people. Engagement, feedback, and community interaction shaped both his brand and the direction of his business - even the name “Just a Dad” came directly from a viewer comment on one of his early videos.
Team-members learned the importance of listening to honest feedback and applying it, even when it is difficult to hear. Tom emphasized that online business allows entrepreneurs to reach a global audience and that long-term success often comes from building multiple revenue streams, including ad revenue, affiliate partnerships, and e-commerce opportunities such as launching a product line.
He also explained that creators should think of videos as assets - work that continues providing value and income long after it is published. By using data, staying authentic in reviews, and committing to continual learning, entrepreneurs can adapt and evolve over time.
The visit reinforced an important lesson for the CEO team: start small, be consistent, solve problems for others, and remain flexible. Success rarely begins with a perfect plan - it grows from taking action, learning daily, and improving with each step.
Thank you to “Just a Dad” for hosting our team!
