Yesterday our team had the privilege of learning from Ryan Follis, Pastor of First Baptist Church Nokomis, local entrepreneur, and former facilitator for Montgomery CEO. He shared valuable insight on the art of conversation, reminding us that meaningful connections require intentional effort.

Ryan explained that preparation is key, encouraging us to do our homework ahead of time by learning about others and coming ready with thoughtful questions. He also highlighted the importance of making every interaction memorable, delivering the “wow” factor, and leading with influence even when not in the primary role.

He reminded us that genuine follow-up—such as thank you cards and continued connection—strengthens relationships over time. Ryan also challenged us to listen actively, seek perspectives outside of our echo chambers, and adopt the mindset to “fail faster to go further.”

We are grateful for the practical tools he shared to help us grow as leaders and communicators.

Thank you Ryan for hosting us and sharing these valuable lessons!
